Our Club is located in the Hornby suburb of Christchurch at the southern
end of town and not only draws most of its players from Hornby but also
serves a large rural surrounding area. Playing membership in 2011 exceeded
350 and we are looking forward to another increase in 2012.

We are the closest club to Lincoln University and handy to Canterbury University and the Christchurch College of Education and as a consequence have a number of tertiary students playing for us as well as players from many other parts of town.
Our club rooms are located at Hornby Domain alongside a grass field on the Main South Road just south of Hornby Mall. and we operate a half turf practice facility at Wycola Park (Hei Hei) about a kilometer away. (One of only two clubs in town to have their own.)

2011 saw us enter 30 teams in local Canterbury competitions. For women, 1 team in each grade from Division 1 to Division 5, three teams in the Mid Week competition, a Youth Grade side and 2 grass grade social sides. For men, a team in Divisions 2 and 3, a Mid Week team and 1 Youth grade side. Primary School age teams make up the balance. In 2010 thirteen teams were entered in various school age grades ranging from mini players [5 and 6 year olds] to year 8 students.
Hornby also supplied many players to various Canterbury representative teams at all levels, a total of 25 players in 2011 playing in teams ranging from junior development squads to the Canterbury Cats and two of our players were called into the Blacksticks squad.
Hornby prides itself in catering for all levels of hockey ability and has a large team of volunteers involved as coaches and managers in all grades (junior through premier).
Club colors are Black and Gold. The club's playing shirt / skirt / shorts for open grade players is hired out at $10 per season but players are required to provide their own socks which are readily available.
